Cabo San Lucas Destination Wedding Laser Cut Invitations

This winter I had the pleasure of working with Rachelle on these unique save the dates. She was so happy with the end result, she asked that I design her wedding invitations as well. As mentioned in the earlier post, Rachelle is having a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas. She wanted her invites to have an elegant, soft look, yet incorporate hints of her beach destination.

Originally, she had thought about including laser cut papel picado flags as a nod to the Mexican locale. It wasn’t turning out quite as she expected, so we opted for a less literal, more intricate, laser cut band to hold everything together.

The entire suite was letterpressed on the double thick, 220lb. Cranes Lettra stock. One of the more interesting details was the pattern that was blind embossed on the back of the invitation. I designed a crest and then used the lace pattern from the laser cut to create the pattern on the back, which was also printed on the back flap on the envelopes.

No details were spared in this suite. Not only did we do letterpress, laser cutting and double thick stock, it also included vintage map envelope liners, calligraphy by Molly Jacques and vintage postage.

Detroit Wedding Invitation

I have done Detroit themed invitations in the past, but Katie wanted something a little vintage, a little glamorous and a little modern. Many of her guests are not from the area, so she really wanted them to see what the “D” is all about. She is getting married at the Detroit Athletic Club in the heart of downtown Detroit. It is a six-story clubhouse, designed by the famed architect Albert Kahn in 1913. Rich in Detroit history, it was a constant inspiration when designing her invites. We used a vintage road map of Detroit, as a backdrop on the invitation, timeline and envelope liner. I also located an image of the Detroit water front from the 1800′s that we used for her tag that held everything together.

California Wedding at the Smog Shoppe

I have a slight obsession with the Smog Shoppe, so when Lauren told me that is where her wedding was to be, I was already inspired. Lauren and Jesse had already designed the cute graphic of themselves that you see at the top of the invitation. They asked me to incorporate it into this California themed invitation suite. I love the retro color palette, vintage stamps and calligraphy by Christie Simony.

Michigan Barn Wedding

Courtney’s wedding reception was held at a barn in Lake Angelus, Michigan. A pretty and rustic setting for a fall wedding. She wanted her invitations to compliment the setting but not be so literal. We went for a modern, yet elegant design with hints of fun/rustic elements (see the timeline). Courtney, a talented artist herself, sketched the barn that you see at the top of the invitations, along with the map on her programs that you will see tomorrow, so stay tuned! Her sister Christie did the unique calligraphy for the envelopes. Check out her webpage christiesimony.com for more details on her work.

She chose a subtle color palette and then added pops of green here and there with the couples initials on the barn and with vintage postage. The invitations were flat printed on Crane’s 100% cotton, Lettra stock.

Santa Fe Rehearsal Dinner

Carlos and Ashley contacted me to to create invitations for their rehearsal dinner that was being held on the family ranch in Santa Fe. They included a map and RSVP with the fun responses, all tied together with twine. They were mailed in glassine envelopes with the always popular map labels.

Laser Cut Garden Themed Wedding Invitations

Danielle is getting married at the Wheatleigh, a beautiful Italian Palazzo built in 1893 in Lenox, Massachusetts. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, lakes and mountains. The interior architecture is of Italian marble and hallways lit by Tiffany windows. For Danielle, it was important to include the elements of the estate within her invitation suite. She especially loved the Tiffany windows. I was able to get an image from the Wheatleigh and created the laser cut to look just like the windows on the estate.

We played up the garden theme on the response card and rehearsal dinner invitation. Danielle opted for navy and peach ink, highlighted with gold thermography. All printed on 100% cotton stock.

Some of my favorite details of her suite included the calligraphy, done by Designs by Robyn Love. The pictures don’t show it well, but that is navy ink on peach envelopes. For the liners we chose two different kinds. Gold, Italian marbled paper and a gold floral pattern. Always a favorite of mine, vintage postage. I hand picked them based on color, a nature/floral look and I actually found a Tiffany stamp!

Everything was enclosed in the navy gatefold, peach ribbon and a gold wax seal.

Sonoma Valley Lace Wedding Invitations

I love Melissa’s invitations. They are so soft and pretty. From the design to the color palette to the cotton stock. We chose a combination of natural colored cotton stock and craft stock. The invitation, response and accommodations cards were letterpress printed. The craft cardstock was screen printed with ivory ink, all by Mama’s Sauce. The beautiful envelope addressing was done by the Left Handed Calligrapher.

Melissa also opted for the every popular timeline.

Camp Blue Wedding Invitations

Vanessa and Dan are getting married at Camp Blue, Lair of the Golden Bear in Pinecrest, California. This is a real deal CAMP, with tents, and bonfires and bugspray. Not your traditional venue for a wedding, but yet again, another one of my bride’s weddings that I would like to attend! A non traditional venue, calls for non traditional invitations! Vanessa had seen my camp invitation that I had done a few years back and contacted me to create something similar for her big day. This is what we came up with.

I designed a monogram that they will be able to use throughout their wedding paper goods.

The most fun of all, the weekend itinerary. The front side lists all of the fun activities to be had. The back side include a checklist of what to pack and a “field notes” section to write all your important info on.

Art Deco Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Nisse, is one of my favorite types of brides to work with. She knows what she likes AND has fantastic taste. She was very involved from the get go with her ideas for the suite. Both her and her fiance have a love for art and are getting married at the Art Institute of Chicago. She wanted the overall look to have a vintage vibe, with lots of vintage and modern type and fun patterns mixed in. In the end we opted for just the one pattern. It was letterpress printed on Cranes 110# Lettra stock in a soft grey ink.

To incorporate color into her suite, Nisse tracked down the beautiful italian marbled paper for her envelope liners, different colored envelopes, vintage postage and the pretty calligraphy by AngeliqueInk.
